CARRIE'S JOURNEY WITH THE HARP
Carrie’s journey with the harp began at just eight years old, when her elementary school music teacher introduced her to the instrument. Though she enjoyed playing piano and singing in choirs growing up, it was the harp that really captured her heart. Not knowing where this passion would lead, Carrie pursued formal classical training at the prestigious Indiana University Jacobs School of Music, where she earned her Bachelor’s degree in Harp Performance. She then continued her studies at the University of North Texas College of Music, completing her Master’s degree.
After graduating, Carrie came full circle by returning to public schools - this time as a harp instructor - teaching middle and high school students and sharing her love for the same instrument that had inspired her as a child. Later, she expanded her teaching reach globally as a harp instructor for Learning the Harp, an online platform that helps students worldwide learn to play the harp through video courses and personalized instruction.
Alongside teaching, Carrie has performed with ensembles such as the Dallas String Quartet and the Sherman Symphony Orchestra. Most notably, she played with the world-renowned First Baptist Dallas Orchestra, sharing the stage with major Christian artists like Chris Tomlin, Michael W. Smith, Matthew West, Casting Crowns, For King and Country, Rebecca St. James, Francesca Battistelli, and Steven Curtis Chapman. During her time with this orchestra, Carrie had the distinct honor of performing for a former President of the United States.
Carrie has also performed at prestigious venues such as the Nasher Sculpture Center in Dallas and the Museum of the Bible in Washington, D.C., where she played for VIP events including organization donors, foreign leaders, and ambassadors.
Through all these experiences, Carrie’s passion for music runs deep. She loves sharing her harp playing at special events to create meaningful moments that connect and inspire others.
